The winners of the first branch Summer Photographic Competition were announced at our Monthly Meeting on Wednesday 11 October following a slideshow of all the entries. Many thanks to all those who took part and congratulations to those who saw off the opposition!
A total of 51 entries were received and these were judged by professional photographer Phil Hutchinson.
The results, in each of the three categories, were as follows.
Winner – Keith Howell for “Ferris Wheel”
Phil said, “The very clear, sharp image managed to capture a good composition with few cropping or exposure issues.”
Highly commended – Fraser Parsons “Beach Huts”
Highly commended – Trevor Owen “Bembridge Lifeboat Station”
Winner – Clive Bartram for “Dog”
Phil said, “This was a classic landscape composition and technically well executed.”
Highly commended – Trevor Owen for “Staithes Seascape”
Highly commended – Clive Bartram for “Hang Glider”
Winner – Margaret Owen for “Sunglasses”
Phil said, “This had been a difficult decision as all photos exhibited the typical problems of portrait composition. ‘Sunglasses’ looks to have captured the essence of the happy child and will go on to become a cherished family memory.
Highly commended – Fraser Parsons for “Art Gallery”
Highly commended – Clive Bartram for “Thirsty Work”
So, the benchmark has been set. Get practising for 2018!
