Our first regular monthly meeting there will be on Wednesday, 14 September 2016 at 2.30pm, with an optional lunch at 1pm.
This new venue is situated on the corner of Woodside Road and Sycamore Road, opposite Laura Ashley, Majestic Wines and the north eastern end of the main shopping street, so there might be time for a little shopping as well. See below map for its location.
Why the move?
Well, quite simply, we felt that Cedar Barn has become too small to accommodate our membership which has steadily increased during the last 4 years. We have to dismantle the lunch tables and rearrange the room to allow for more chairs to be set out for the speaker sessions and this has meant a potential safety hazard for all. Insufficient parking was a further reason to look around for larger, local premises.
The Alfred Ellis Hall
The Alfred Ellis Hall at the Amersham Free Church offers space for 90 seated around tables. The hall is light and bright with plenty of seating and the layout and size of the room gives us several options to host different types of sessions. It has a disabled toilet and superb facilities including a modern, recently refurbished and well-equipped kitchen. The large, level parking area all around the church means that there isn’t much walking involved from the car park to the hall and it is free for hall users. There is Blue Badge parking right next to the main entrance.
Change of meeting day
The hall is in regular use and the only monthly date the Church could give us was the second Wednesday of the month which we hope won’t be too difficult to adjust to.
