From January 2017, Dorothy Salathiel will take over the organisation of our ever popular Care & Share group from Mary Phipps, who has run it for four years.
These informal monthly meetings over coffee, tea or lunch are for anyone who cares for or just shares their lives with someone with Parkinson’s.
Mary, who built up the group from the Carers’ Coffee Mornings, says: “I know how hard it is to care for someone with Parkinson’s, and I believe it is valuable for carers to meet up, for mutual support. My role has been very rewarding and enjoyable, but it’s time to step down and hand over to Dorothy’s capable skills.”
Dorothy has Parkinson’s and has had experience of caring for other family members. She says: “Since I joined the branch over five years ago I have taken part in most of the branch activities and know how much people with Parkinson’s value these, the friendships they make and the support they get from each other. I want the Care & Share network to provide a similar opportunity for carers.”
Please note that Care and Share meetings will move to a later time of the month from January to fit in between our new monthly branch meetings dates. See What’s On in our branch for dates of Care & Share and all our other meetings.
