Generous Tesco shoppers in Amersham and Gerrards Cross filled our collection buckets with a total of £1,131 when 16 fantastic volunteers from our branch greeted them in January and February. It was our best ever result – thank you!
Back in 2016, Duncan and Sue Keir, along with Cathi and John Grainger started a fundraising initiative to make cake stands from donated plates that could be converted to cake stands.
“Duncan the Drill” set about experimenting with various plates and decided that porcelain gave the best results. After acquiring donated plates and some purchased from charity shops, a stock of various designs was constructed in an effort to cover every possible market need.
Over 300 people enjoyed a festive treat at our Christmas concert on 15 December 2017 at the Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe which raised a fantastic total of £3,212 for our branch.
Our huge thanks go to all the performers, including Jo Edworthy and the 100-strong “Everyone Can Sing” choir, Caroline Patterson, soprano, the Verulam Brass Quintet, presenter Paul Brown and our own Warblers for entertaining us so richly.
Our thanks also go to the many volunteers on the night – too many to mention by name – who helped set up the hall, helped guests to park, organised and served all the refreshments, manned the front desk, ushered and lots more. Special thanks too to Chris Mead who spoke about the branch and thanked the performers. All contributed to a very successful and enjoyable evening.
We’re really excited to announce our Branch’s first ever Christmas Concert at 7.30pm Friday 15 December 2017 at the Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe.
Everyone is welcome to what promises to be a brilliant evening of entertainment to put us in the festive spirit. We’ll have a full programme of arias, carols and Christmas favourites from High Wycombe’s 90-strong “Everyone Can Sing Choir”, professional soprano Caroline Patterson and a brass quintet led by Craig Patterson on trumpet. Caroline has performed with opera companies including European Chamber Opera. Craig has played in West End shows and is a professional orchestra player and band leader.
