Following the success of the “drop-in” format for our monthly Care and Share meetings at the Kings Roast Coffee House, which began in March last year in Amersham, we have decided to start a similar monthly meeting in High Wycombe.
The new venue will be at Green and Grounds, Holmer Green Sports Association, 87 Watchet Lane, Holmer Green, High Wycombe HP15 6UF and the first meeting will be at 10.45am on Wednesday 6 February 2019 with subsequent meetings on the first Wednesday of the month (except August and December).
From now on, we will be calling the meetings at both venues “Parkinson’s cafés” to reflect better the fact that they are very informal meetings and are for everyone affected by Parkinson’s, including spouses, partners, family members and carers. The aims are still the same:
- drop-in — no need to book or let us know you’re coming
- fellowship, mutual support and encouragement
- chance to share tips and experiences
- make new friends
- occasional special guests
Spouses, partners and other family carers often say they would like to spend time with other carers to share their experiences and tips, so we usually have a “carers corner” for 30 minutes or so during the meeting for everyone who would like to participate.
