Peter Taylor, who plays in the band and whose wife Christine has Parkinson’s, said: “we do around 8 free public performances each year, for sheltered housing units, special schools, the Young at Heart Group at Beaconsfield URC and other groups, and we have recently started performing one ticketed evening concert each year for charity.”
“We are all retired … the only non-retired member is our excellent musical director, Barbara Douglas. Obviously we do not charge for our performances and the players are entirely voluntary.”
Based in Flackwell Heath, this ladies choir has members coming from all surrounding areas. They perform one summer concert and two Christmas concerts in the village and others by request.
Membership is by audition and they aim for a high standard of performance to maintain the reputation the Choir has gained over the years.
Most of the profits from their concerts are given to local charities.
